Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

A baby lounger is one of the most popular new products on the market. You might be wondering how the snuggle me organic vs dockatot lounger compare. In this post, we’ll compare the two so you can pick the best baby lounger for you.

If you’ve got a newborn baby, are expecting to be one of this year’s new mothers and new parents, or are shopping for someone that’s expecting you may be in the market for a baby lounger!

The Dock-a-Tot baby lounger and Snuggle Me Organic baby lounger are both great baby products and are popular baby loungers, but which one is better? Which one will better fit what you want and need for your little one? Here we’ll go over all the major points and differences so you can make the final decision on the best baby nest for your little one!

So, what are baby loungers anyway?

Well, they’re exactly what they sound like! A safe place for your baby to lounge and lay safely without the worry of them rolling around! They can give you that much-needed extra hand when someone isn’t around to help!

Baby loungers are useful for a changing pad and can give you the flexibility of turning any flat surface into a place to lay your baby down. They are also excellent for cuddling, playing, and interacting with your little one!

Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

Basic Differences: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

The Dock-a-Tot and Snuggle Me Organic have the same basic functions, but there are quite a few differences.

The Dock-a-Tot is larger and bulkier while the Snuggle Me Organic is smaller and thinner making it much better option for fitting in your travel bag!

The Snuggle Me Organic me is much less bulky all around with just a foam outer ring and the center that is only fabric. It works by the weight of your baby pressing into the fabric center, pulling on the padded sides, and giving your baby’s body a snug squeeze to soothe them and hold them securely. The Snuggle Me Organic is much closer to a nest pillow, and its lower sides make it much better suited for tummy time.

The Dock-a-Tot on the other hand is bulkier, with a large padded bottom as well as higher sides. The Dock-a-Tot does not provide a “snug” fit for your baby but because of the lack of the snug squeeze, you may be able to use it for a longer time!

Where the Snuggle Me Organic is a solid ring with a fabric “hammock” across the center, the Dock-a-Tot has those taller bulkier sides and the ring that wraps around the center mattress does unsnap and open at the bottom giving you easier access for diaper changes!

Both products are also offered at different price points.

The Snuggle Me Organic is the less expensive option (which is not to say that there is any quality sacrifice made in the product). It is just about $50-100 less than the Dockatot.

If you are more budget-minded it is even available without a cover to save even more money! The Dock-a-Tot is the more expensive product and is said to be the highest-priced baby lounger on the market.

Sizes: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

To caveat off of that “snug” fit and how long you’ll be able to use them, both the Dock-a-Tot and Snuggle Me Organic come in different sizes so you have options to use either lounger style you decide on up until they reach 36 months (3 years) of age!

The sizes and amount of time you can use them really do make them a worthwhile investment, every parent knows the pain of buying an outfit and having a baby outgrow it immediately or opening a new pack of diapers just to find out their baby has gone up a size just a handful of diapers into it!

Both loungers are offered in different sizes to fit your needs.

The Dock-a-Tot comes in the Dock-a-Tot Deluxe and Grand. The Deluxe is for babies from 0 to 8 months and the Grand is for babies and toddlers from 9 months to 36 months! The Deluxe measures roughly 29 inches long 18 inches across and the Grand is significantly larger at 48 long and 24 inches across.

The Snuggle Me Organic is offered in similar size options to the Dock-a-Tot, it is offered in the infant lounger and toddler lounger!

The infant lounger is for babies aged 0 to 9 months and measures almost exactly the same as its Dock-a-Tot counterpart at 29 inches long and 17 inches wide. The toddler lounger has the same size range as the Dock-a-Tot Grand but it much smaller as it is only 36 inches long and 20 inches wide. It is also recommended that to be used properly and safely the toddler lounger should only be used for babies and toddlers that are twenty-one inches from the top of their head to the bottom of their butt and can crawl well.

While these loungers both come in similar age ranges, there are several things to consider in choosing one based on size if that is your number one factor!

If traveling with your lounger is a concern, the Snuggle Me Organic may be a better choice especially since the toddler or larger size that is offered is so much smaller.

It is also important to note though that some developmental recommendations come with that, if your baby is a bit more petite or not quite taking off on all fours yet the Dock-a-Tot may still be a better option. It is also important to consider your planned uses in the sizes, the Dock-a-Tot is much taller and not well suited for tummy time.

Fabrics and Cleaning: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

The two loungers are both made from cotton and polyester, but they have some differences here as well!

For starters, the Dock-a-Tot is made in Sweden, while the Snuggle Me Organic is made in the United States. Both covers are removable which is a plus.

The Dock-a-Tot cover is made from 100% cotton, but it is conventional cotton so it is not considered to be hypoallergenic. The filling inside the tube is polyester and while the covers are machine washable, the mattress and tube are only recommended to be hand washed which can be a bit more of a hassle.

Removing and replacing the cover on the Dock-a-Tot can also be a bit more challenging than doing the same for the Snuggle Me Organic, so that may also be something to consider as well if you think your baby will make a mess (as most of them do!).

When choosing the Dock-a-Tot, it may be a good idea to have an extra cover just in case of a mess since the tube itself isn’t machine washable!

The Snuggle Me Organic on the other hand lives up to its name with the cover and fabric of the Snuggle Me Organic me Itself being made out of organic materials. The organic fabrics the Snuggle Me Organic Lounger gets its name from are organic cotton which are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified!

The fabrics are also hypoallergenic and non-toxic so if allergies or eczema are a concern for you, then the Snuggle Me Organic may be the best option for you. The Snuggle Me Organic is also 100% breathable so it does help in keeping your baby cool instead of too hot inside of all that fabric!

There are different points here that could be a top priority for parents to consider when choosing a lounger for their baby.

The fabric quality and content as well as the recommended cleaning method could be a big deal for a place where a baby may spend a great deal of time over its use.

Both loungers have removable cover options that are machine washable which is a very nice feature for both (they also let you choose from a great variety of colors and patterns to suit your own personal style and taste!).

The Snuggle Me Organic itself though goes a step further in ease of cleanup though where the pad itself can be popped into the washing machine if need be whereas the Dock-a-Tot tube and mattress are recommended to be hand wash only.

The fabrics could also be more important based on your own personal needs and concerns. If allergies or potential skin irritations are a concern, the Snuggle Me Organic would absolutely be a better choice since it is made from organic cotton and is hypoallergenic!

While the fabric the Dockatot is made from is not necessarily an inferior product, it is not hypoallergenic. And if being able to throw the whole thing in the washing machine or the fabric being hypoallergenic aren’t a concern for you and you would just like to support an American-made product, the Snuggle Me Organic is made in the continental United States!

Add Ons: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

One other thing to note is the different “extras” you can buy with each.

To complement your Snuggle Me Organic, you can buy:

Notably, the Snuggle Me Organic offer puddle pads which help keep a barrier between your baby and the pad itself which makes making cleaning up easier!

To complement your Dockatot, you can buy:

The DockATot does not offer a “puddle pad” alternative and can be more difficult to clean.

Safety: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

Both the Dock-a-tot and Snuggle Me Organic should only be used under direct supervision. They are not considered safe for sleeping according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. If your little one falls asleep in it you should transfer them to their normal, safe sleeping place. Always follow safe sleep recommendations for your baby’s safety.

While it may seem tempting to let them sleep and not disturb them, it is always best to follow safe baby sleep recommendations and do what’s best for your baby!

This may seem confusing even though the Snuggle Me Organic provides that snug squeeze to help prevent them from rolling. The DockATot has those nice high sides. Even still, the American Academy of Pediatrics doesn’t recommend letting babies sleep in any lounger or similar products. This isn’t to say that these two products are unsafe, it’s just their standard all around for loungers! They are also not recommended to be used as a co-sleeping device (like a moses basket).

In Summary: Snuggle Me Organic vs Dockatot Lounger

Well…. we’ve carefully reviewed the options and now it’s time to render a verdict!

The Dockatot and Snuggle Me Organic are both great baby loungers and each one simply has a different design. As they are similar products and largely provide the same functions for the most part, they are also very different in many ways! No matter which one you choose, your baby is bound to be in a great place when spending time in either of these loungers.

They are both 100% safe places to put your little one when used properly under direct supervision. Truthfully our verdict here is simply whichever lounger best fits your needs! Every family and baby are different and their needs vary greatly as well. No one knows exactly what those needs are better than those families and parents.

The Dockatot is a great Swedish product and offers a size range for babies up to 36 months. It is much larger in size so if the size isn’t a concern for you and you’re just looking for a big, comfy, safe place for your baby to lounge in then it may be just right for you!

Its high sides make sure your baby is nice and secure inside. The ability for the tube to open up is perfect for diaper changes on any flat surface! The cover is also machine washable which makes cleanup relatively easy. It does come in two sizes.

The Snuggle Me Organic is an equally great domestically produced product. It is entirely machine washable and the fabric is both hypoallergenic and organic eliminating the worry of any allergies.

The Snuggle Me Organic is also offered in sizes for babies and toddlers up to 36 months. With this it is important to remember those requirements for using the larger size. It does also work to soothe your baby. It holds them securely by giving them that snug little squeeze when they’re laid in it correctly.

By size, it is much smaller and less bulky than its DockATot counterpart. If you live in a smaller space or travel considerations are on your priority list, then the Snuggle Me Organic is certainly a better choice. It is the more budget-minded product if that is a concern for you as well.

My Personal Experience:

I personally used the Dock-a-Tot for both of my children. The first time I bought it, it was because I wanted a baby lounger. I held on to it and used it for my second child. I discuss our experience with it here in my baby products I regret buying video.

If I went back in time, I would have bought the Snuggle Me Organic. I would have preferred the fabric choice, the ease of cleaning it, and the size. My children only used the Dock-a-Tot as infants so the size would not have mattered to us.

The ease of cleaning, snug fit, the cost of it (less than the Dock-a-Tot), and the hypoallergenic fabrics all make it stand out for me.

Both products serve the same purpose and looking at their differences will help you decide which one is best for you!
