9 Perfecting Concealers For Mature Skin Over 30

Looking for the best concealer for mature skin? As we get older we have unique concerns that make finding the right makeup more challenging than ever. Here are 9 concealer picks for aging skin.

Concealer is a staple makeup product for many women – myself included! Many days I typically only go in with a concealer to spot conceal or hit my main problem areas.

As we get older our skin concerns change. Many of us start to develop wrinkles as early as our 30s which can change how makeup sits on our skin.

Your skin might also be more or less oily than it once was or even showing signs of sun damage.

Concealer is a great product to have in your arsenal to give you a confidence boost by covering up any areas you’d like to even out.

Over the years I’ve tried well over 50 concealers, maybe even close to 100 at this point, so I have extensive experience in knowing settles into fine lines and what doesn’t.

This post covers the 9 best concealers for mature skin.

9 Best Concealers For Mature Skin 2023

Top Pick - Pot Concealer
RMS Beauty Concealer

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Natural

Formulation: Cream

This lightweight cream concealer is concentrated to gently cover under-eye circles, cover redness and imperfections with a buildable finish.

The RMS Beauty pot concealer has long been one of my favorite concealers. It has a medium buildable finish.

I personally like to use it with my fingers or a beauty sponge for the best application. I don’t need to set this one for powder and I find that it does not sink into my fine lines.

It wears beautifully throughout the day and fades naturally. I think you’ll particularly like it if you have oily skin as it melds perfectly with your skins natural oils.

It’s one of the best concealer for mature skin picks in my opinion because it looks fresh and hydrated all day.

I usually apply this with my finger or a beauty sponge. I find a brush application of this concealer can result in too much product being applied.

If you apply too much of this, it will look heavy!

Top Pick
ROSE INC Softlight Clean Dewy Hydrating Concealer

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Radiant

Formulation: Liquid

A buildable, non-comedogenic concealer that visibly brightens, blurs, and contours while nourishing skin with hydrating squalane and protective vitamin E.

I love this concealer so much. It looks great on my skin in all seasons and is the perfect buildable concealer.

The finish is so beautiful and natural and it wears naturally throughout the day. I highly recommend trying this one for mature skin.

It offers really good coverage for a lightweight formula. The reviews agree – it’s a good concealer no matter what makeup look you’re going for!

I have used multiple shades of this and I have to say that I found the lighter shades to have a thinner consistency.

I’m not sure if that is because of the pigments used or not but just something to be aware of.

This concealer in particular has a lot of shade options so you can definitely pick from a range and still find the right shade.

I personally select by undertone and then by shade family (light, medium, dark) to make sure I’m getting the right match!

Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer and Daytime Eye Cream
$30

Coverage: Medium | Finish: Radiant

A crease-proof, medium-coverage, super creamy concealer, eye cream, and spot treatment in one that visibly brightens and helps reveal better-looking skin.

This concealer is beautiful. It’s very creamy and hydrating but does not settle in fine lines.

I love the creamy formula and find the best way to apply it is with a brush.

I find with a sponge it blends out to be a lighter coverage. Which isn’t a bad thing, just something to note!

Because of the consistency of this product, I personally like it with a brush.

I also find that you can’t really apply too much of it. It still looks good even if you go in with a heavy hand.

This concealer doesn’t wear as long because it’s so creamy, even if you set it with powder.

I would suggest this one if you only wear makeup for 4-6 hours at a time. It’s a good everyday concealer.

Personally, I like to use it all over my face as an easy, go-to makeup look. It blends so quickly, it’s hard not to love it!

Full Coverage
NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

Coverage: Full

Finish: Matte

Formulation: Cream

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

A full-coverage, oil-free concealer that conceals and blurs imperfections with a soft-matte, natural-looking finish.

This concealer is great if you really need full coverage. It’s concentrated so a little goes a long way.

I find a few pats of this one with my finger under my eyes or over a blemish is the perfect amount. You don’t want to use too much or it will look cake-y and dry.

Like the name suggests, it has a matte finish. They have a lot of shade options so it will be easy to find your right shade.

I often use two concealer shades; one to bright up my dark under-eye circles and another to blend in with my natural skin tone.

In my opinion, you really only need to apply so little of this concealer for mature skin! It’s got really great, full coverage.

I also like it with my fingers. As a pot concealer, it can be a little stiffer right out of the package. I find warming it up with my fingers is a great way to ensure a smooth application.

Bobbi Brown Skin Full Cover Concealer

Coverage: Full

Finish: Natural

Formulation: Liquid

A featherweight, full-coverage concealer with up to 16-hour skin-perfecting power that resists creasing and settling.

This concealer is a go-to for long days and full coverage. I typically wear makeup for 8 hours maximum but many reviews say it still looks great after 12 hours.

It’s easy to apply and full coverage. Bobbi Brown makes great makeup for mature skin and this concealer is a fan favorite.

This is a full-coverage formula that still provides a natural finish and works great all over for for undereye circles. It’s truly a multi-tasking concealer that people love! For best results, use a brush with this one.

A brush will give you a more full coverage look. It has a medium consistency (not too creamy, not too dry) so it will keep its coverage well with a brush.

Again if you like a lighter look, use less product and use either your fingers or a sponge.

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Concealer

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Natural

Formulation: Liquid

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

A liquid concealer that diminishes the appearance of imperfections and provides medium to full coverage with up-to-24-hour wear and a natural finish.

This concealer is really nice and I love the self-refreshing technology. This concealer along with the foundation both wear really nicely.

It claims up to 24 hour wear but I always thought it still looked great after 8 hours. It’s not heavy but still provides great coverage and a little goes a long way.

I love the matching foundation too. I don’t know how the technology works but this duo truly looks better and better as the day goes on.

I highly suggest trying this one. It’s more expensive but they truly know what they’re doing. I use this with all kinds of application tools and it looks flawless regardless.

Saie Hydrabeam Brightening + Hydrating Creamy Under Eye Concealer

Coverage: Light

Finish: Radiant

A light-coverage concealer clinically shown to visibly hydrate, brighten, and smooth skin while creating an all-over radiant finish.

This concealer is very lightweight and I recommend it if you only have a little bit of imperfections to cover or need some brightening under your eyes.

It has a silky, gel-like texture which makes it comfortable to wear. You’ll never feel weighed down with this concealer!

It doesn’t have the longest wear time, though, so I recommend it most if you need to wear makeup for 4-6 hours maximum.

This concealer, in my opinion, needs a light application. It’s also best suited for dry skin that needs life breathed back into it.

If your skin is oily, definitely set this one with powder. I also think it helps to give the tube a little shake before applying it.

Ami Colé Skin-Enhancing Concealer

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Natural

Formulation: Liquid

A medium-coverage liquid concealer that blends in seamlessly to visibly brighten and blur your skin.

This medium coverage concealer is infused with skin-nourishing baobab seed, hibiscus flower, and pumpkin seed extracts. We love to see skincare in makeup! That’s great for mature skin.

It’s a breathable formula designed to blend seamlessly with your skin while blurring blemishes and brightening.

It’s a mid-weight consistency – it will not run down your face but will also not stick in place like glue. If you’re looking for a medium coverage concealer, try this one!

You can use any beauty tool with this one. I’d set it lightly with powder, but that is just my personal preference.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Self-Setting Medium Coverage Concealer

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Natural

Formulation: Liquid

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

A creamy, lightweight concealer with a natural finish and buildable coverage in an innovative, self-setting formula with 12 hours of crease-free wear.

This concealer from Makeup Forever stands the test of time – it’s a fan favorite for all skin types year after year.

It’s a weightless formula available in a huge shade range.

This formula sticks down with no problems. You can wear it all day and not worry about it budging. It will fade gracefully as the day wears on!

I would go for this one particularly if you have a lot of discoloration to cover up or on dark under eye circles.

You’ll like it if you have oily or combo skin. If you have dry skin, make sure to go in with extra moisturizer or a hydrating primer underneath to keep your skin looking dewy and hydrated.

How To Pick The Best Concealer For Mature Skin

When deciding what concealer to look for, you’ll want to consider a few things in picking the perfect concealer for mature skin:

Coverage

First of all, you’ll want to think about what kind of coverage you are looking for. Do you want light coverage, medium coverage or full coverage?

If you have just a few blemishes to cover and maybe dark circles, go for light to medium coverage.

If you really need to even out your skin tone, pick medium to full.

Or if you’re just looking for something to cover up a few spots, a lightweight concealer is probably the way to go!

But you can always use less or more of a product to get the desired coverage. I would focus more on the consistency you like!

Type – Liquid or Pot

Pot concealers are typically meant to be more targeted – so just a blemish or under your eye for example.

Liquid concealers that come with a wand or a pouf on the end can be applied generously all over your face.

Blending Technique

To blend my concealer, I prefer to use my fingers or a sponge in a targeted area.

However, I also often blend concealer all over my face, almost as a tinted moisturizer or foundation. For this I use a brush.

Your fingers warm the product up and help it blend better. For the undereye area, I use my ring finger in a gentle patting motion – just like I do with my eye cream.

A sponge gives a lighter and even coverage.

A brush is often best for medium to full coverage concealers to help you blend them seamlessly. Sephora makes a great concealer brush I’ve loved for years.

Try a few techniques and decide from there!

Ingredients

I always like to see ingredients that work like skin care in my make up.

Some ingredients to look for a vitamin e, vitamin c, shea butter, and hyaluronic acid.

I tend to stay away from anything that claims to be a waterproof concealer because they tend to contain PFAS. Personally I think we should all avoid these.

Your Skin Type

There are three main skin types: dry skin, oily skin, and combination skin (both dry and oily).

Older women often find that their skin type is changing – you can always evaluate your skin type with a resource like this one.

Some concealers will call out a skin type they are best for, however, in my experience it’s worth trying different ones for yourself because they wear differently on different people even with the same skin type.

Sephora has a great return policy so you can always try something out and exchange it if it does not work for you one your quest to finding the right concealer!

What Other Makeup You’ll Be Wearing

I wear concealer often alone without foundation and will typically just wear blush or bronzer on top.

If you’re also wearing foundation, you’ll want your concealer coverage to match your foundation coverage for an even wear.

You might need to test a few concealers to make sure it plays well with your skincare products you wear underneath. For
